Al-Istiqlal University Discusses prospects for future cooperation with Chinese Universities

Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osba, the President of Al-Istiqlal University, received Dr. Shadi Abu Zarka, the Deputy Palestinian Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, and a delegation from the Chinese "Jiangxi Normal University" headed by Mr. Xiao, the Director of the Confucius Institute at Al-Quds University - Abu Dis, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Sbou, the deputy for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Halasa, the Dean of University Centers, and Dr. Hani Awidat, the Director of the library of the martyr Khaled Al-Hassan.

Prof. Dr. Abu Osba welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance of consolidating relations with Chinese universities by teaching their language and culture to those interested in the Palestinian security forces, and the extent to which postgraduate studies can be completed in qualitative disciplines and keeping pace with the needs of the Palestinian market.

Furthermore, Dr. Abu Zarka expressed his happiness in being at Al-Istiqlal University, the University of all Palestinians, praising its tireless efforts to develop the educational field and serve the local community, which is what “Jiangxi Normal” seeks as part of its policy to encourage foreigners to enroll in its programs, and to strengthen the Palestinian-Chinese relations.

For his part, the Director of the Confucius Institute indicated the full readiness to provide scholarships that include housing and tuition fees for both undergraduate and graduate studies, provided that the memorandum of understanding will be signed later, and the axes of the actual partnership will be determined.

Moreover, Prof. Dr. Al-Sobou talked about opening up prospects for cooperation in the fields of information technology and international policies, benefiting from the Chinese experience and specialized expertise in this field, which will positively affect the general outcomes, and students’ qualifications and their cognitive skills.

In the end, Dr. Halasa pointed out the importance of consolidating bridges of bilateral relations, opening the door for academic and student exchange, and research partnership in strategic studies, as well as applying the successful Russian experience in networking and communicating with many foreign universities.
