HE Maj. Gen. Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, and Prof. Dr. Saleh Abu Osba, the President of the University, received Prof. Dr. Nour Al- Den Abu Al- Rub, the President of Palestine Technical University "Al-Khadouri", Prof. Nour Al-Din Abu Al-Rub, and the delegation accompanying him, which included Dr. Suliman Zohairi, the Acting Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Nafeh Assaf, the deputy for Academic Affairs, Dr. Dirar Alyan, the Assistant to the President for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Alaa Issa, the Dean of Student Affairs, and the Student Youth representatives Mr. Mahmoud Damiri and Mr. Wassim Abu Shams.
Also, this meeting was implemented in the presence of Dr. Rajaa Sweidan, the deputy for Administrative and Financial Affairs of Al-Istiqlal University, Dr. Abd-Elatif Abo-Odeh, the Assistant to the President for Planning, Development and Quality, and the Deans of Faculties, on Wednesday 8th of September 2021, inside the campus of the University.
At the beginning of the meeting, HE Maj. Gen. Al-Tirawi welcomed the guest delegation, praising the work of Prof. Dr. Abu Al-Rub, his great efforts and his relentless pursuit of progress and prosperity in Al-Khadouri at both academic and practical levels, mentioning that he was one of the founders of Al-Istiqlal University since its inception.
Also, he spoke about the current political situation, the nature of the sensitive stage that our Palestinian people are witnessing locally, regionally, and internationally, besides the role of higher education bodies in building the initiations of Palestine and developing their policies, and their work mechanisms in the various fields.
Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Abu Osba praised the recent achievements of Al-Khadoori University, most notably the globally competitive artificial respirator, and the importance of this in supporting the youth category, encouraging them to innovate, and promoting their creative thinking, especially in the disciplines that meet the needs of the Palestinian local community.
And, he stressed the University readiness to continue the cooperation and partnership through programs, academic exchange, scientific research, exchanging experiences, and promoting the relations between students of the two universities, by organizing theoretical lectures and practical activities, to provide them with the skills required, and contribute to achieving the desired cultural and geographical diversity.
Moreover, he pointed out the need to focus on the university curriculum, and to work on preparing some curricula dealing with the Palestinian cause, to consolidate the national spirit and enhance intellectual concepts and values among students.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Abu Al-Rub expressed his happiness at visiting this distinguished national scientific edifice, praising the mission of the University in providing the Palestinian Security Establishment with qualified officers to serve the country and enhance security and stability. He stressed the readiness of Al-Khadoori University for bilateral cooperation at the level of undergraduate and graduate programs, future projects, the security studies which relate to life sectors (health, agriculture, water, etc.), and computer sciences.
Also, he reviewed the most important achievements of "Technical Palestine University" and its future visions at the level of Palestinian industry, in light of the availability of researchers and specialists, who have scientific capabilities that enable them to take the lead and achieve excellence, each in their field.
The meeting included honoring Maj. Gen. Al-Tirawi and Prof. Dr. Abu Osba, by the administration of Khadouri University, and the Student Youth Movement represented by Mr. Damiri, the head of its student council, and Mr. Abu Shams, the coordinator of the Youth Movement. In addition to giving a shield of appreciation to Prof. Abu Al-Rub.
At the end of the visit, the Public Relations Department presented a short film about the student's university life, and made an introductory tour for the delegation to the University's buildings, faculties, and facilities, and closely acquainted with the development taking place at the level of infrastructure.
